Charlie Mackesy - The Boy, The Mole, the Fox, and the Horse

Sebastian (he/him) is a Registered Provisional Psychologist who holds a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of Lethbridge and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Honours) from Mount Royal University.

Sebastian is dedicated to helping you on your mental health and wellness journey, acknowledging that whatever has brought you to therapy is a valid and meaningful reason. By employing a humanistic, person-centred framework and fostering a strong therapeutic relationship, Sebastian strives to ensure you feel heard, validated, and accepted.

Recognizing the uniqueness of each individual's life, Sebastian uses flexibility and creativity to tailor each session to your specific needs. To best support you in achieving your therapeutic goals, Sebastian adopts an integrative therapeutic approach, incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Existential Therapy techniques and frameworks. Through mindfulness and metaphors, ACT encourages acceptance of challenging emotions and emphasizes taking value-driven action, while CBT focuses on identifying and altering negative thought patterns to enhance emotional well-being and overall quality of life. Narrative Therapy aims to empower individuals by helping them reframe their life narratives, enabling them to detach from their problems and foster positive transformations, while Existential Therapy guides exploration of existence, meaning-making, and personal responsibility to encourage authentic living.

Sebastian's areas of interest include working with LGBTQA2S+ individuals, allies, and those seeking to become allies; navigating trans-specific experiences and issues; exploring sexuality-related topics; addressing interpersonal challenges; and establishing healthy boundaries. Additionally, Sebastian is both Kink-Aware and Poly-Aware. Sebastian also works with clients on topics related to trauma, anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, stress, shame, and grief.
