Niki Whitefield
Registered Provisional Psychologist
I'm Niki (she/her), a Registered Provisional Psychologist with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and 18 years of experience in mental health. I am deeply committed to helping people navigate life’s challenges. Whether it’s anxiety, depression, trauma, life stress, self-exploration, neurodiversity, or relationship struggles, I walk alongside my clients, supporting them as they work through difficult times. My approach is client-centred, meaning I focus on your unique strengths and needs and create a safe, supportive environment where you feel heard, understood, and empowered.
I am dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families build self-awareness, improve communication, manage stress, and develop stronger, healthier relationships. I draw from a range of therapeutic methods, including animal-assisted therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), family systems, and attachment theory, to find the best approach for each person. I am passionate about supporting parents of children at every stage, including adulthood, offering guidance and tools to help them navigate the complexities of parenting and foster healthier family dynamics. Additionally, I enjoy helping other mental health professionals with their wellness and development journeys, recognizing the importance of self-care and continuous growth in those who support others.
Creating an open, accepting counselling environment is at the core of my practice. Life can be incredibly challenging, and I believe that through these challenges, we are learning, growing, and evolving. I believe that we all have the potential to overcome obstacles and thrive. Above all, I believe we are not meant to face life’s ups and downs alone!
I am 2SLGBTQ+ affirming and work with clients of all ages across Alberta. Virtual and in-person sessions are available.
