Associate Counsellor
James (he/him) is an associate counsellor with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. His rich background spans diverse realms, encompassing general medicine, psychiatry, crisis intervention, and mental health advocacy. This broad spectrum has ignited his passion for delving into the intricate behavioural facets of human health, leading him to adopt a holistic approach to aiding individuals and families on their therapeutic journeys. This multifaceted experience equips him with a profound understanding of how complex physiological and pathological processes intricately contribute to our psychological welfare.
During an illustrious 11-year professional journey, James has seamlessly navigated diverse cultures across Asia, Europe, and North America, engaging meaningfully with members of various Indigenous communities in the Canadian Arctic. Notably, his strength lies in his remarkable multicultural competence in counselling.
James brings a versatile approach, cutting across multiple treatment modalities. He eagerly anticipates collaborating with individuals addressing concerns such as grief/loss, trauma, addictions, spiritual and religious issues, stress, depression, and anxiety. He is also open to working with youth and adults on many other concerns not explicitly listed.
Located on Treaty 6 territory in Amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton), James proudly affirms his commitment to supporting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Embracing cultural diversity, he offers counselling services in English, Yoruba, and Russian. James warmly welcomes new clients across Treaties 6, 7, and 8 boundaries, known as Alberta.
