Indra
Associate Counsellor
Indra (aka: Indie) is a 2.5 year old, Labrador X Golden Retriever. She was born and raised in Oakville, Ontario by the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. Indie loves spending time outdoors, especially when she can follow her nose! She believes that stopping to notice the different smells reminds her to be present and breathe deeply. She also finds long walks restorative and enjoys chewing a good stick!
Indie has spent her life training and preparing to become an accredited Facility Support Dog (FSD). FSDs, often referred to as therapy dogs, are dogs who are both trained and enjoy working with people who are struggling with difficult emotions, unsettling thoughts, or challenging life circumstances.
Indra’s name has its roots in Hinduism; a god of rain, thunder, and storms. Indra was a protector of the people and was seen as a warrior, cherished for being a powerful presence. Her name is very fitting as many people have told her that she has a very calm, motherly presence. Intuitive Indie is wise beyond her years and seems to know what people need.
Indie is 2SLGBTQ+ affirming and works with people of all ages across Alberta. Working alongside her human co-therapist, Niki Whitefield, Indie offers in-person sessions in the Montgomery Cultivate office.
