Iboro Akpan

Canadian Certified Counsellor

Iboro (she/her) is a Certified Canadian Counsellor with a Master’s in Counselling Psychology. She has a strong foundation in assessment and counselling, working primarily with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Her practice focuses on supporting clients navigating domestic abuse, neurodivergence, trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem and relationship challenges.

Her approach is grounded in a strengths-based philosophy, empowering clients to build on their innate resources and resilience. She draws from a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including person-centred therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), narrative therapy, and she is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). This integrative approach allows her to tailor her work to the unique needs and goals of each client.

At the core of her practice is a commitment to collaboration, empathy, and non-judgement. She strives to meet clients exactly where they are, creating a safe and supportive environment where they can explore challenges, uncover strengths, and work toward meaningful change.

I am 2SLGBTQ+ affirming, available to clients across Canada except for Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and PEI. Assessment services are only available to clients located in Alberta.
