Deepti Singh

Counselling Intern

Hi, I'm Deepti, (she/her) a counselling intern and a Master of Counselling Psychology student. Before entering counselling, I spent about 18 years working in nursing, supporting people and families through difficult and vulnerable moments.

I was drawn to therapy because, through nursing, I often saw that healing did not end after the acute medical phase. People still needed space to process what happened, understand how it affected them, and learn ways to cope moving forward. I wanted to support that part of healing by helping clients feel heard, understood, and supported.

I am especially interested in helping clients explore long-standing patterns of behaviour and coping that may have once been helpful but now feel limiting or difficult to change. I am also interested in supporting clients with concerns related to culture, identity, belonging, acculturation stress, women’s experiences, caregiving roles, relationships, and life transitions. As an immigrant myself and a mother of two young children, I bring personal awareness of how complex it can be to balance identity, family, culture, and responsibility, while also recognizing that every person’s experience is different.

I recognize that beginning therapy can feel vulnerable and even scary. I hope to offer a warm, collaborative, trauma-informed, and strengths-based space where you can come as you are and move at a pace that feels right for you. As a counselling intern, I practise under supervision and welcome clients from diverse backgrounds, identities, and life experiences.

I am 2SLGBTQ+ affirming, available to residents of Alberta and accepting new clients.
