Cy Ganchar

Counselling Intern

Cy (he/him) is a Counselling Intern currently completing a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at City University. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Victoria.

Cy believes that feeling safe and heard creates a strong foundation for meaningful counselling. He aims to foster a warm and non-judgmental environment where clients can feel comfortable being themselves and open to exploring what brings them to counselling. His approach is grounded in curiosity and a genuine interest in getting to know each person and what matters to them. He sees counselling as an opportunity for clients to reflect on their thoughts and develop a deeper understanding of themselves at their own pace.

Cy welcomes clients from all backgrounds and is committed to creating a space where everyone feels comfortable being themselves. He is 2SLGBTQ+ affirming and values the opportunity to learn from each client’s unique perspective. He is hoping to focus on men’s mental health, creating space for men to explore their emotions and experiences.

As a counselling intern, Cy is committed to continuing to learn alongside his clients and developing an approach that is genuine and responsive to each individual. He is located on Treaty 7 territory in Mohkinstsis (Calgary) and is currently accepting new clients across Treaties 6, 7, and 8 within Alberta.
